Facebook has an interesting feature, which allows people to raise money for a variety of causes, join different groups, and even install easy to use applications that will help NGOs fund their projects.

One interesting application is the (Lil) Green Patch application. This application, as stated in the name, adds a green patch on your profile, alongside a plant. The more plants you have, and the more you receive, the more money will be donated by sponsors for the preservation of the rainforests.

More than that, it has an interactive feature. Aside from being able to send plants to your friends (a limit of 20 plants a day), you can also help take care of your friends' patches, and in doing so, earn Green Bucks which you can use to by "tools" to help care for those patches. It's fun, easy to use, and helps the environment. It takes very little effort to add that application, so what are you waiting for?
We can make a difference.

Literacy is a giant part in that. It opens doors to all sorts of information, and gives you a myriad of tools to work with and to accomplish many things in life. This year, UNESCO's theme for Literacy Day involved good health and well-being. Here is their plea:

"REVEALING THE TRUTH TO THE WORLD
Keeping the Pressure on to Stop the Slaughter

"Each year, 20,000 dolphins are killed off the coast of Japan and by petitioning the Japanese Government to act against this slaughter we may be able to make a difference. These barbaric killings are subsidised by the sale of live dolphins by fishermen to the international aquarium market, which pays upwards of $45,000 for specimens to be used in dolphin shows and swim-with-dolphin entertainments. Right now American aquarium specialists are buying 12 bottlenose dolphins for the Ocean World amusement park in the Dominican Republic.T his will subsidise more killings for meat products.
